How Mental Health Has Taken On A New Meaning During The Pandemic

Every May, Canadians recognize Mental Health Week as a way to promote behaviours and attitudes that foster well-being, support good mental health and reduce stigma in an effort to create a culture of understanding and acceptance.

As a global organization, we believe it is important to recognize that mental health impacts everyone around the world.

"As we face the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important to recognize that many of us are experiencing a high degree of uncertainty, worry, anxiety and stress that may disrupt our work and personal lives," says Joanne Campbell, Senior Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer. "We need to support each other more than ever before."

As an essential company, we acknowledge that whether our people are working from home or onsite, all of us are practicing social distancing and experiencing different changes to our daily lives. In an effort to support employees during this time, we have implemented several new measures to further support their mental and physical wellness.

These measures include but are not limited to:

  • Implementation of precautionary measures for those who must remain onsite to complete their job duties
  • Increased flexibility to manage personal obligations
  • Access to free virtual healthcare professionals
  • Collaboration to find working arrangements that work for all employees
  • Access to free resources and webinars to help manage and cope through uncertainty
