Docusate Sodium 100mg

Polyethylene glycol, gelatin, sorbitan, sorbitol, propylene glycol, glycerine, D&C Yellow # 10, FD&C Red #40.

Orange, Oval, Liquid filled capsule

Diameter: 5 Minims

Store at room temperature (15 to 30°C).

For relief of occasional or temporary constipation.

Children 6 to 12 years - 1 capsule per day.
Adults and older children - 1 or 2 capsules per day. The effect of docusate sodium capsules USP on the stools may not be apparent for one to three days after the first oral dose. Maximum dose: 500 mg daily. Drink increased fluids (one full glass or more).

Do not use in the presence of abdominal pain, nausea, fever or vomiting. Frequent or prolonged use may result in dependence on laxatives. Do not administer docusate sodium capsules USP within two hours of another medicine because the desired effect of the other medicine may be reduced. Do not take any type of laxative for more than one week unless advised by a physician.

Docusate Sodium should not be administered concomitantly with mineral oil - increased absorption of the oil may result. Do not administer Docusate Sodium within 2 hours of other medications, to avoid reduction in its effect.

Presence of abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting.

Frequent or prolonged use may result in dependence on laxatives. Rash, cramping, nausea, diarrhea.

Symptoms include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, fluid loss, and hypokalemia. Treatment is symptomatic.
