Building Services
Engineering & Construction Services
Engineering Services is responsible for all new building
construction and major modifications as well as new
manufacturing equipment requirements.
Capital Project Work includes:
- Project scope and justifications
- Project scheduling and tracking of capital spending
- Compliance with regulatory/safety/GMP requirements
- Sourcing
materials/equipment/suppliers/consultants/contractors
- Design, layout and construction of
buildings/equipment/processes
- Procurement of all production/packaging/services equipment
and building materials
- Installation, start-up, training and validation of all
building, equipment and related services
- Set-up and maintenance of the required support documentation
for the above
The role of the department is to analyze existing processes
and equipment in order to make continuous improvements as
well as handling the capital projects required for future
products and capacity increases.
Facilities Department The Facilities Department is responsible for ensuring the
safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all
buildings and associated services. There are several
distinct functions within the Facilities Department:
Protection Services: is responsible for such things as
physical security of Apotex buildings, employees and
property. This includes:
- Security Systems - maintenance and operation of all
technical security systems, e.g., access control, employee
card badge protection, assigning access levels, security
alarms.
- Keys and Lock Hardware - installation and maintenance of all
door locks and other locking hardware, issuing of keys to
employees, re-keying existing locks.
- Fire Protection Control Systems Maintenance - including
inspection and replacement of extinguishers.
- Employee/Visitor Parking - including issuing of parking
permits, daily maintenance and security of parking lots.
- Lost and Found
- Lockers - Locker assignments are provided by
Facilities.
- Safety Shoes/Prescription Safety Glasses
Building Services: responsible for building system
operations and maintenance (HVAC, boilers, chillers and
refrigeration, compressed air, vacuum, dust collection
systems, etc.) as well as all direct building maintenance.
Electrical Services: responsible for the ongoing maintenance
of electrical distribution systems and building automation
systems. Responsible for Apotex Inc. calibration programs.
Facility Support Services: responsible for all Food Service
Operations, cleaning programs and waste handling activities
through the Sanitation department.
Space Allocation: responsible for coordinating all space
requests and moves. Requests for furniture, repairs to
furniture.
Sanitation Throughout the Apotex facilities, there are many job
functions carried out by the Sanitation department on a
daily basis.
Some of the job functions include the following:
- Daily dusting, wiping and vacuuming of the offices
- Cleaning washrooms 2-3 rimes daily, sweeping and mopping of
the floors
- Garbage pickup twice daily
- Garbage pickup in Production and Packaging areas 12 or more
times daily
- General cleaning of doors, windows, kick plates
- Outside walls of Production receive a weekly washing and
sanitizing
- Inside walls of Production receive a daily washing and
sanitizing
The role of Sanitation within the Apotex Group is to
sanitize and maintain a healthy, clean, and safe environment
for our company and the employees, and to help prevent any
contamination before, during, and after the production
processes. The main goal as a team is to achieve a clean and
healthy environment through products and procedures
together.
Although Apotex is expanding at a rapid pace, the Sanitation
department remains focused and dedicated to achieving
Apotex’s goal to be a world-class pharmaceutical
manufacturer.
