Biosimilar G-CSF: Cooperation on Three Continents.

neutropenia (a side effect of cancer chemotherapy) is to be
developed by Apotex Inc. of Canada in collaboration with
Intas Biopharmaceuticals Limited (IBPL) of India. Neukine®,
a recombinant granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF)
is already manufactured and marketed in India and other
countries by IBPL.

Life Saving AIDS Drug for Africa
Gets Final Clearance
Toronto, ON - The Federal Commissioner of Patents issued today a compulsory licence for ApoTriavir under Canada's Access
to Medicines Regime Program (CAMR) allowing Apotex to proceed with
manufacturing of the product. This drug, a triple combination AIDS
therapy, was the first product to be approved by Health Canada under the
provisions of the CAMR.

Apotex Launches Generic Norvasc®
Apotex Corp. announced today that it has launched amlodipine besylate
tablets (2.5 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg), the generic equivalent of Pfizer’s
Norvasc®. The launch follows Monday’s issuance of the mandate by the US
Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit’s decision of March 22 invalidating
Pfizer’s US Patent 4,879,303 (the ‘303 patent) covering amlodipine besylate.
The decision came in an action brought by Pfizer against Apotex. Apotex
successfully invalidated the Pfizer patent...
